Yes, since it runs inside Dosbox and Dosbox is also available on Mac there is no real reason why it should not work. This is as always - it requires proper packaging and testing. This means effort and costs manpower ($). Since Steam is profit oriented it probably does not pay off for such old, low budget title to invest anything in the Mac direction as the sales most likely won't even return the investment. What a pity! You can still buy the game for its data files and try some open source implementation of this game. It is not finished yet unfortunately - but keep an eye onEventually they will come up with a multiplatform version of the game (you still will need the original data files for it though). Just in case any other Mac users are out there reading this, I found a program called Crossover that will let you play Xcom through Steam on your Mac.

When I start it, it starts out goofy, but then works fine. It has a menu bar type thing on the top of the screen and one time after I got done playing, it froze and I had to restart my computer.

It offers a 14 day trial to see if it works for you. Then you can upgrade if you want. You computer savvy guys can probably figure it out better than me. If you do, let me know. Here is a Youtube video about it.

The video will say that it is outdated, but it is not. Helgen reborn quest walkthrough. Watch it through and use the links with it. It's workable without fiddling with Crossover. The first thing you need to do is to install DOSBox on your Mac. Then you need to download Xcom through Steam on a Windows partition (bootcamp works, so do virtual systems like Parallels and VMware), and copy the files across to your Mac partition. There's a bit of fiddling to get it going, and I don't have access to my Mac at the moment; I'll come back to this early in the new year (once I've moved into my permanent home and have all my stuff at hand) and post detailed instructions.

Sorry for the delay, but yes - it CAN be done.
