From my experience it hurts more than paintball, its just a very prolonged stinging feeling. How much you think it hurts depends on the fps of the gun, distance youre shot at, whether youre shot in a burst of full auto or a single shot in semi auto, how much spin is on the bb and of course where youre shot.

Does Getting Shot By Airsoft Hurt
Treat all guns as if they are loaded. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.if something is broken or wrong. True. There was one time where I let the NPAS all the way out on my LM4, was shooting north of 550 fps with.25's and my brother in his hoodie volunteered to get shot in the back. The rifle would put a hole through both sides of a pop can easily (I did chrono it with my xcore chrono). He said it did not feel like much at 10 feet.
He shot me in the back as well (with a hoodie) and it did not hurt much at all, but I am sure it would break skin on a direct hit. Then I adjusted it all the way down and he said the same. His hoodie soaked up most of the energy.
Heavier BBs are perfectly fine to use, often it's encouraged BUT if you're doing it to make your gun appear to shoot at a lower velocity, well that's called 'Cheating the Chrono' and yes it is a form of cheating and should not be done. The proper way to lower velocity is by installing a weaker powered spring. You can also do as YourAsianGamer said and do a half trigger pull so the spring is compressed in the gearbox for a few days or a week, BUT be wary, this puts strain on your gears and could cause problemsYou can also cut a couple of coils off your spring. Not really recommended, but it's a last ditch effort if you don't have another spring or don't have time to wait for shipping. The Velocity limit kits and accessories don't work well. Even worse, when used in a full auto gun, they tend to completely fail. They barely work on semi-auto only guns, let alone full auto guns.Soooo your best advice is to look for another gun OR do a spring swap.
Click to expand.Respectfully, you sir, are entirely wrong.A battery only supplies power to the motor. Either it supplies enough power to allow the motor to compress the spring or it doesn't. Beyond that, it will not alter the velocity of your gun. It's physics. Though if you want to attempt to disprove physics, I'll gladly listen to you attempt to explain this theory of yours.Secondly, turning your hop-up all the way up is cheating the chrono.Using a heavier BB is also cheating the chrono as well. All 3 methods you've chosen to divulge are entirely wrong and should not be followed. To date, the best way to lower your velocity would be to install a weaker spring. Velocity reducers are still inconsistent and other methods are flat out cheating.

Battery voltage has NO EFFECT whatsoever on the muzzle velocity of your AEG. However, this will have a massive effect on your RPS/BPS and if you had a realistic RPS cap (say 17) you could use a battery with a lower voltage in order to meet that cap. Next up, turning off your hopup actually increases your FPS slightly, if I recall correctly.

You will only accelerate faster. It's the same thing with airsoft guns, and if you take the time to understand how a gearbox works, you will see that it's impossible for the battery to have any effect on FPS.Educate yourself and stop perpetrating myths. Hey let me just start off by saying I have no clue about how airsoft internals work or anything like that.I've been interested in airsoft for awhile, and I've went to a couple fields. I think its time for me to purchase my own gun. I've been looking at this:However, the website says that it shoots at 430-440 fps, which is well above my local field's limit.
My question is how can I find a lower powered spring without cutting the spring? I've looked for springs on Evike but all I can find are upgrade springs.Help out a new airsofter? I'd rather you take it to a local tech, but this way your gun should arrive ready to go.If you let me know exactly your limits I can better recommend a spring power.A quick note: they are called upgrade springs, but a lot of them will get you lower FPS than what the gun should come with. Anything lower than a M120 should be a weaker spring than what the gun comes with. I wouldn't go any lower than an M100 though.
It really depends on what type of gun it is and how far away itis, but in general it doesn't hurt that bad its just the initialsting and then ur ok. Its only as big of a deal as u make itit doesn't really hurt at all. Its like getting a quick pinchand then it goes awayWith one layer of cloths from about 50 feet away0-300 fps - don't really feel anything300-350 fps - slight sting, a small red mark that goes awayquickly400-450 fps - larger red mark and a stronger sting that staysfor a while450 - up - you will usually only be shot by a gun over 450 fpsif it is a sniper, at which point the bb will have traveled so farits velocity is under 400 fps on impactRead more.
